Customizing Your Display


This page describes how you can change the appearance of documents.

To change font sizes:

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.

  2. Choose the Fonts panel, if necessary.

  3. Set the Font Size menu to the size you want to use for displayed and printed text.

  4. Choose the OK button.

To change fonts:

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.

  2. Choose the Fonts panel, if necessary.

  3. Specify the font you want to use for each of the following:

    Normal Text Font Font used for most text.
    Header Font Font used for headings.
    Monospace Text Font Font used for fixed-width text.

  4. Choose the OK button.

To change display colors:

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.

  2. Choose the Colors panel, if necessary.

  3. Choose the Set button to specify the color of the following elements:

    Text Color Color of normal text.
    Background Color Color of background in document windows.
    Link Color Color of links.
    Visited Link Color Color of links that have been selected recently.

  4. Choose the OK button.

To underline hypertext links:

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.

  2. Choose the Miscellaneous panel, if necessary.

  3. Select the Underline Links option.

  4. Choose the OK button.

To ignore color attributes specified in documents:

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.

  2. Choose the Colors panel, if necessary.

  3. Select the Ignore Document Attributes option.

    Colors specified by <BODY> tag attributes (BACKGROUND, TEXT, BGCOLOR, LINK, VLINK, and ALINK) will be ignored. The colors that you specify in the Colors panel will be used instead.

  4. Choose the OK button.

To improve image quality:

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.

  2. Choose the Display panel, if necessary.

  3. Select the Dither Images option.

    On displays with 256 or fewer colors, this option improves image quality at the expense of slower performance.

  4. Choose the OK button.

To specify the preferred language for documents:

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.

  2. Choose the Miscellaneous panel, if necessary.

  3. Open the Preferred Language menu and choose the language that you prefer for displaying documents.

    If you request a document that is available in multiple languages, Mosaic will open the document in the language that you prefer, if a version in that language is available.

    This setting only affects the language used to display documents, not the appearance of Mosaic.

  4. Choose the OK button.
